The Little Horn

From Daniel's vision of the fourth beast we acknowledge that the little horn also occurs in the new testament era. There is another "little horn" in the OT sequence of kingdoms from Babylon to Rome that springs up in the kingdom of one of Alexander's generals. The verses concerning this little horn are given as;

Dan 8:9 And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which waxed exceeding great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the pleasant land.
Dan 8:10 And it waxed great, even to the host of heaven; and it cast down some of the host and of the stars to the ground, and stamped upon them.
Dan 8:11 Yea, he magnified himself even to the prince of the host, and by him the daily sacrifice was taken away, and the place of his sanctuary was cast down.
Dan 8:12 And an host was given him against the daily sacrifice by reason of transgression, and it cast down the truth to the ground; and it practised, and prospered.
Dan 8:13 Then I heard one saint speaking, and another saint said unto that certain saint which spake, How long shall be the vision concerning the daily sacrifice, and the transgression of desolation, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot?
Dan 8:14 And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed. (KJV)

Out of one of the generals (from their dynasty) came a little horn. We should note that the line concerns the sequence leading from Seleucus to Antiochus IV. Antiochus IV, also called "Antiochus Epiphanes" hated the jewish people and desecrated the temple in Jerusalem.

However, a "little horn" in the OT era should parallel the little horn in the NT era. The little horn here has struck down and stamped upon some of the "host of heaven" (which we assume will not arise again, they "fell".) He magnified himself to the "Prince of the host" whom we may liken to Jesus, and we may also assume the sacrifice taken away and sanctuary cast down parallels the NT equivalents of the mark of the beast and the falling away of the Church.

Part of the kingdom of Judea (a host) is in the text as following Him and opposing the sacrifice because of their sins, - in that they guarded him or the temple whilst the sacrifice was stopped (c.f. the tares following after the image as Hell following after Death, preventing true righteousness within "her" (the image) or even beside her.) they were "secular" rather than religious, and the truth of the kingdom of God renounced by them was trod underfoot and in it's place the reign of the little horn prospered.

We may then expect there to be an OT parallel to the NT equivalent of the tares following after the false doctrine accumulated from the state of Israel.

The Greek kingdom is comprised of four kingdoms with (as their residue left of Alexander) one balance of three "bows" each; (under the four generals ruling after Alexander.) They co-exist in a manner that parallels the NT era "Death" system of the pale horse's four "balances". This "little horn" does according to all his will - as if it were a "fifth balance" ruling over one of those four kingdoms in place of the non-constructable fourth balance). In effect as these four balances of the four generals will never unite in one system without conflict (one is contradicted or deposed at the meeting table), this little horn shows that the king Antiochus is relating to his neighbours with his carnality only. "Hell" has taken the place of the rider "Death" upon the "pale horse".

The construction of the "pale horse" in the OT era shows that this Grecian kingdom (The fifth in the sequence of Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Persia and Greece itself) has been thus far survived by the Israel of it's day. Then the little horn takes the place of the synagogue of satan within the five "refining" eras of Israels history endured by Israel with their doctrine summed thus far, in parallel to the synagogue of satan leavening the five churches of revelation.

Here, the host given the horn against the sacrifice for reason of transgressions parallels the NT era "synagogue of satan": and the system of leavening is done by the little horn "practicing and prospering". - The "host" of secular Israel - happy to live as the Greeks becomes the synagogue of satan acting in the spirit of the false prophet leavening the people of Israel (as if Judea were the elect of the remnant of philadelphia still within the Laodicean conglomerate of revelation.)

The magnification to the "prince of the host" refers to the king making himself ruler over both the kingom of Judea and the religion of Israel: He demanded that they worship his own gods (and thus himself.) so removed the true instruments of worship by the daily sacrifices.

In casting the stars to the ground he first grew great - the rule of the little horn made the Greek way of life pre-eminent and predominant over the nation of Judea, and the presence of the king's own will as replacement for the "pale horse" of the "Death" system led directly to raising his own desires equal to the rule of God over His people. In effect raising himself to the host of heaven. The presence of this system of "Death" raised over Israel is enough to cast some of the stars down to the ground - clearly we may equate this with the floating unity or "rest elements" of the octal that are supplanted by this "little horn" as the false prophet leavening Israel's fivefold-era history from within, under the rule of his gods.

In effect, the proper operation of the octal is supplanted with elements in opposition to it and God himself with the gods of Antiochus: we are reminded of the difference between matters spiritual and physical with the verse:

Rev 13:10 He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints. (KJV)

The angels that stand by Daniel state that the difference in time between the profaning of the temple and it's cleansing is 2300 days.
